A real page-turner, with warm colourful characters
Another fantastic read and time well-spent with this brilliant new book from Milly Johnson. As usual, she weaves a wonderful story that leaves you wanting to spend more time with the people and places she creates. The Queen of Wishful ThinkingThe Queen of Wishful Thinking is written straight from the heart, with the classic Milly Johnson themes of friendship, love, humour and choices that change lives, all coming together in one of her best books yet. It's beautifully set in the same location as The Teashop on the Corner, so the familiarity gives this book a feeling of home for readers of previous MJ books. As the story unfolds, you can't help but become emotionally invested in characters that are so well written and brought to life. There are moments within this book that will provoke almost every emotion, from joy to anger, sadness and laugh-out-loud bits too.I personally love how Milly writes about women who are always so much stronger than they think they are and how, with their newly discovered inner steel, friendship, love and a little faith, they can change their lives completely. In short, The Queen of Wishful Thinking is a wonderful read, a real page-turner, with warm, colourful characters and has definitely made me want to start wandering around antique shops! As is always the case with Milly's books, it leaves you with a fuzzy, happy glow when you finish it, whilst wishing there was more.

The Queen of Wishful Thinking written by the super talented Milly Johnson was not only a brilliant read but the audio version is to be highly recommended as the narrator Colleen Prendergast did a super job and really brought a lot to the actual storyline as she gives each character their own voice and this really added to my enjoyment.
The main character for me was, of course, Bonnie and as she narrates her own story I could feel the pain and anguish she was suffering mainly due to being in an unhappy marriage. But for her being sacked from a job she had grown to hate mainly because of a horrible boss will be her first step in reclaiming her life once again.
This was mainly Bonnie's story but we meet a few other characters along the way and through their own narration we get to know the insides of their life and I loved how each character was connected through Bonnie and their love for her. This book has it all from laughter to tears and every other emotion in-between.
Milly Johnson is famous for writing chick lit but as a reader, I would disagree as she writes about life and how it can change in an instant, and those changes can either break you or make you stronger. I love how she always gives us readers characters who may start off as not having much faith in themselves but they always come through and start believing in themselves to so that they can reach out and make those wishes come true - it might take a bit of faith and hard work but sometimes all it takes is a bit of wishful thinking to guide you along the way.
The Queen of Wishful Thinking written by Milly Johnson is one excellent book which I loved from the first page.
    Highly recommended.

Milly Johnson at her best is thoroughly enjoyable, light hearted and fun to read. On occasions, however, her books can be dull or farcical and unbelievable.
85% of this book is first class Milly Johnson but the conclusion to Stephens story takes on the farcical and unbelievable train of storytelling, almost as if the author got fed up with the story and didn't know how to end it. I would far rather have had a much more believable outcome to conclude Stephens nastiness.
Having said this, the book is a mostly entertaining, lighthearted, easy read and worth four stars.

I loved the book. As always with Milly’s books I couldn’t put it down. A great holiday read, I would definitely recommend.

As an avid reader and a huge Milly Johnson fan, I was very excited to receive her first ever hardback, The Queen of Wishful Thinking, on publication day.
I started it on Saturday evening and before I'd even got as far as the first chapter, I was already in tears as the book was dedicated to Milly's gentle giant of a dog, Teddy, who passed away last year. Her words came straight from the heart and went straight to mine!
Once I'd begun the actual story, I was hooked immediately. I read three chapters on Saturday night then lost an entire Sunday immersed in it. No housework or cooking was done as I couldn't bear to put it down. There were bits that made me laugh out loud - the Daily Trumpet apologies are hilarious - and bits that made me cry. I believe that any book that can do this is a true masterpiece.
The story was so believable with characters that came alive on the page. Some I was really rooting for and others I was furious with, but all of them played an important role in the plot. Throughout the book, it was clear that there was a 'secret' involving one of the main characters and when it was revealed, I was completely thrown and hadn't seen it coming at all. Again, I think this is the sign of a great writer when nothing is predictable.
I have read and thoroughly enjoyed all of Milly's books but to me, this one is in a class of it's own. I would highly recommend it to any readers and I would say without doubt, that it is her best work yet.

Milly never disappoints. I have read a majority of her books and this was a favorite. My favorite is Afternoon Tea at the Sunshine Cafe. I am quickly working my way through her books. What a fun writer. I also love Debby Johnson. I don't think they are related, but I know they are writing friends. Thank you both for some great stories.
