Christmas In Venice: A Short Story Kindle Edition

3.7 out of 5 stars 1,045 ratings

Olivia's Christmas trip to Venice, Italy, should be a holiday dream come true. But when her unattended luggage becomes the focus of a handsome Italian policeman’s bomb investigation, she worries she won't even make it out of the Marco Polo Airport. Practically handcuffed to the best-looking man she’s ever seen, can Olivia convince him she isn’t a terrorist before he writes her off for good? Christmas in Venice is the perfect little treat to start the holidays off with a smile.

(This short story is adapted from the first chapter of Meadow Taylor’s newest full-length novel, Midnight in Venice, available now.)

Review:
The story is a gift to the reader and shows the fun that can be had by reading a small story and expecting BIG THINGS for the rest of the story. —Authorsden

Praise for CHRISTMAS IN VENICE:

"Meadow Taylor is a force to be reckoned with! ... This story, Christmas in Venice, brightens our hearts and wants all to have a Buon Natale!" - Authorsden.com

Praise for THE BILLIONAIRE'S SECRETS:

"The windswept cliffs of Newfoundland make for an epic backdrop, and there are times when The Billionaire's Secrets seems to be channelling the spirits of the Bronte sisters. If you can suspend your disbelief a little, you'll likely find this to be a grand, romantic book." - indiebookspot.com

Praise for FALLING FOR RAIN:

* Let me just point out a few things...if you don't like sexual tension, romance, strong women, gorgeous men, or anything Canadian, you will not love this book. However, if you do, this book is an excellent read. I had difficulty putting this one down.... I teared up (ok, cried) a couple of different times. I highly recommend this book. I give it 5 stars." - Beth's Reviews and Promotions

* "This book will have you from the beginning. I read it in one night. Beautifully written. Prepare to have your heart to be torn by the pain these two characters have endured." - The Indie Bookshelf

* "This is a feel-good book you'd enjoy while in your favorite PJs sipping hot choco or whatever beverage you like while chilling. Who am I kidding? you will enjoy this book in whatever clothes you wear and wherever you are." - whoopeeyoo! :D

A quick read where Olivia meets a handsome, albeit angry, Venetian policeman at the airport when she causes a major incident. Note: a very short story.

This is a short story about Olivia. Olivia is due to start a new job in Venice in the new year but instead of spending Christmas alone she decides to take the trip early.

But when she is arrested in the airport she thinks it’s all over.

This was a lovely little story but unfortunately unlike the title suggest we do not spend any time in Venice. The whole book was set in the airport. I was disappointed by this as I adore Venice and I was looking forward to reliving this city.

The writing in this book is excellent and I can’t wait to read the follow-up Midnight in Venice.

    MOMOBOOKDIARY REVIEW

Christmas in Venice is a brilliant short story.

A very well written taster to the full novel, Midnight in Venice.

The title is slightly misleading.... this novella takes place ahead of Christmas and after Olivia leaves her luggage unattended and ends up causing a national security concern she doesnt actually reach Venice but spends the whole book inside Marco Polo Airport!

It will certainly give you a laugh as we enter the festive season.

Yes it reminded me of the uncertainty of airports and the constant threat that existed for travellers and how romance can flourish in unexpected places .🙂

The story is about MC Olivia who has flown to Venice for Christmas rather than spending the holidays at home alone, and she is due to start a new job in the city in the New Year, so she is getting a head start!

Leaving her bags with a sweet old lady while she goes in search of a payphone may seem like an innocent act but it lands her in trouble with the police and jeopardises her Italian trip.

This is a fun short story that can be enjoyed in less than an hour; it could maybe have been named a super short story to be honest! Olivia's trip to Venice seems romantic but when her suitcase turns out to be a national security concern it turns into quite a funny and enjoyable tale.

Too short. You are just given the start of the book than it comes abruptly to an ends in my opinion to write this is a complete waste of my time

Sweet, Sad and way too short.... This was a great wee story and they always say leave them wanting more but.... I was left feeling cheated of what would have a really good book to curl up with.

Olivia has travelled to Venice to take up a new job and spend Christmas with her cousin. Unfortunately she leaves her luggage unattended which causes a few problems but she does get to meet a very good looking cop who seems not to want to let go of her arm.

Sometimes a short story is just what you want to read and this story is ideal to relax with accompanied by a glass of wine and a mince pie. It is nicely written and I felt sympathy with Olivia.

5.0 out of 5 stars A little Christmas intrigue and romance
Reviewed in the United States on 24 December 2012
"Christmas in Venice" is part modern mystery, part romance and is an entertaining, well-paced and intelligently-written short story. I found the heroine extremely relateable and could well imagine how she must have felt in the situation she found herself in upon arriving in Venice. One is not quite sure which turn the story will take, but one thing is for certain: the handsome stranger is intriguing and the attraction palpable. The story is left somewhat open-ended, but in a good way. I had been saving it for a quiet moment (difficult to find, so close to the holidays) and am so glad I picked it up. It's filled with true-to life details and is superbly written. I will definitely be looking for more stories by Meadow Taylor. If you have enjoyed "The Sidewalk Artist", Falling Rain" or "Billionaire's Secret", as I have, you are sure to love this short story. Even though the title suggests a Christmas story, this would be an enjoyable read at any time of year, or during the post-Christmas lull. Highly recommend!

4.0 out of 5 stars Eine nette Geschichte
Reviewed in Germany on 22 December 2012
