Of course she’d said yes. How could she not? Waiting for him at her favourite cafe in Paris in 1912, she doesn’t regret a thing, but she doesn’t know if he’ll be able to come back for her. It’s a gamble, but it’s all she’s got.
Jack was only supposed to be observing, but he meddled and saved Grace’s life, thereby changing his future – or was it his past? He knows that they are not meant to be together; it breaks all the rules.
The problem is, they never seem to have enough time. But there again, there is someone who thinks they’ve already had too much of it. They’re not sure who they can trust and they’re starting to think that time is a funny thing. While they can’t count on it waiting for them, can they count on each other?

About the author

Jacqui was born in Rotterdam in 1960. In 1962 her family moved to London, where she grew up.
At the age of forty six, she and her husband, along with five cats and three dogs moved to Argentina to take some time out of the rat race and to live a simpler life with better weather.
There, she rekindled her desire to write, something that previously there had never been enough time for.
Now, at the age of fifty two and a bit, she and her husband are moving to Ireland. This time with five dogs and two cats in tow. The weather...?
'What about us?' is her debut novel.
'Horizons', her first story, is in two parts - 'Beyond the Horizon' and 'Shifting Horizons'.
Her most recent story - 'Mosaic' - is now available too.
All of her stories are on Kindle as e-books or in paperback.
All of her stories explore the theme of time and relationships from one angle or another, but her writing is not easily pigeonholed into one genre, as you will see as more of her work is published.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 September 2013Good book, I enjoyed all the wibbly wobbly timey whimey stuff.
This novel is split into several parts, each told by a different incarnation of one of the two min characters. Generally speaking this kept things fresh despite the fact that some things happened the same in the various timelines. I did find it could be hard to shift my mind between different versions of the character though, I kept wanting to draw from what I knew of the previous one. I'm not sure this is an error of the author though.
Overall a good book, a nice light romance with plenty of angst.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 September 2016Grace and Jack meet when she almost has an accident. Jack is sitting in the café watching the road and in a split second saves Grace which changes his future. I can’t say too much more about the plot as it will give things away. The first half of the book is Grace’s story and the second is Jack’s. The rest is.. well the rest of the story -again I can’t say anything without giving things away other than to say you start to think “what?” and then it all makes sense. Think “Time Travellers Wife” but with a difference. This book kept me enthralled, a beautifully written relaxing read set in different times with the descriptions that go with it. This is a romance, set in a mystery. One to keep you entertained and engaged. A really enjoyable read.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 October 2014Time travel is always confusing and I'm still not sure I get it......
Overall though, it's a love story, original and different. A bit long-winded in places but not boring. Worth a read.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 February 2015I really, really enjoyed this story. I like time travel novels and this one is very well written. Jack, historian by profession, travels back in time to observe history being made but inadvertently meddles with it when he saves the life of Grace. The couple then fall in love despite the fact that they should never have met. This is the story of their adventures together and their fight to avoid punishment by Jack's bosses for the transgression of saving her life.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 June 2013The story was so compelling I couldn't wait to get to the end to see what happened to Jack and Grace. The story was very believable and I really felt like I was in the story even when they time travelled. Looking forward to reading the next book from this exciting new author.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent characters
I like time travel books, but I really read them for the characters and how they handle the situation and not so much the sci-fi explanations. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Jack and Grace just pulled me in and wouldn't let go. I loved that Henderson split the book into each one's POV because we learned so many more details about Jack and Grace that way. It is hard to explain without spoilers how many facets we were allowed to see of Jack and Grace, but I will say that it is an interesting exploration of how people can view the same trait as a strength or weakness. For example, Grace believes she is an unimportant nobody who isn't very bright, but through Jack's eyes we see how amazing and emotionally intelligent she truly is. Absolutely fascinating.
The time travel stuff is handled well without huge holes or overly long explanations. I was a little confused about why we were spending so much time explaining 19th century life, but it worked in well several times later. I was glad I read it then. The ending was a little more abrupt than I wanted, but as I chewed on it I realized that you can see what the rest will be based on everything you just read. It really does go in its natural course. Now that is tying it all together in a masterful way.
I highly recommend this book. I will be buying more from Henderson!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a wonderful love story!
A quite unique love story so pure and deep. So much unlike everything else I;ve been reading ever? Eternal love, love on first sight?
More than just a romance and so beautifully written. Also very clever. You really have to think quite a lot to follow the demanding plot. But it never spoils the fun reading on and on. I could hardly put the book down..... A unique mix of time travel novel and love story, I highly recommend!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good read.
I enjoyed this book a lot. I like time-travel books and romance. It was kinda complicated, but not too bad. I don't want to give away the book, however, the ending was good but it left unanswered questions, such as was Jack aged a lot at the end? It was a surprise to find out details about the characters that one did not know until later in the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books I have read-a must read about time travel!
This book is well written and grabs your attention from beginning to end. Although loaded with details, adventure, romance and character development, the plot is full of twists and turns and holds the reader throughout the entire book.
This is a must read for those interested in the subject of time-travel and even for those that never thought about it. I enjoyed it so much, I sent it to my daughter in college.
Happy reading...too bad I can't find anything else written by this very talented author yet...

3.0 out of 5 stars Strange
I found mucch of the story hard to follow. It wasn't bad or poorly written. It was just weird. I have unanswered questions, but not so intriguing that I want a sequel.
